Overall purpose

Overall purpose of the Position:

Web development, desktop services & SEO

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a multi-award winning established property company working in our busy customer service team.

You’ll need to have good maths/english grades – be 'someone who can edit and put live web pages proof reading them whilst you go.   We’re looking for a confident person who checks in with their Team Leader regularly and someone who brings forward design ideas


Would suit:

Person with IT background, knowledge of html, java, java script, photoshop


Key Responsibilities/Tasks

to work as part of a team to complete the Ringley “branding review” across 8 websites

to shadow our IT Network Engineer and cover for desktop support services under direction

to employ SEO methodologies and to monitor the google analytics package

to create new software interfaces in conjunction with our back end programming team.


Html, photoshop and web work

(a) create/keep the site map up to date on all Ringley websites

Use of new relic to identify glitches on our systems

(b) use photoshop to put together new screens and functionality for our Software Engineers

(c) use Java Script to enable functionality and create html and pdf and prown layouts

(d) learn data queries to create report layouts

(e) work as part of a team in front of Software Engineers to

- take screen shots of all screens/menus and

- set us google analytics to understand which pages are most used

- of the pages that fall in the bottom 30 percent of pages least used ask the MD whether the page is still required

- categorise each page to help develop a mind map of modules

(f)  attend Development meetings to draw up pictorgrams of the inter-relationship of features. Initial focus Client Types and Site Set-up

Search Engine Optimisation

- to support SEO activities

IT Support

- help with PC setup and tasks he would like to assign to you

Website maintenance

- assist in text changes, fixing broken links

- assist on design layout image selection in spirit of Ringley brand toolkit

What to remember before you apply:

Keeping your Team Leader informed is crucial, after all there’s no point working hard if we can’t offer up our work for approval, enjoy learning from constructive criticism and be part of a fast moving team.

 We understand this might be your first job and we don’t expect you to come to us with any specific property knowledge as we'll train you. Bags of common sense and being able to think on your feet are essential qualities.

As a silver standard Investor in People Ringley is very well known for taking the development of staff very seriously and therefore invests a large amount of time in training and mentoring staff to ensure they reach their full potential.

Prospects after your apprenticeship

Ringley has a policy to promote from within and the majority of our Apprentices have graduated to real jobs.

Structured training

Technology NVQ Level 1 and Level 2:

For applicants who do not already have a relevant degree the apprenticeship includes 9 weeks off site at college including laboratory work as well as on-site NVQ Assessment

Key Tasks

A typical day may include the following:

- Putting together pretty html email templates

- text changes to web pages

- selecting images for new adverts, html emails or web pages

- optimising pages for search engines

- re-writing old websites into new mobile web technology

- setting up or closing down user email accounts

- setting up new work-stations

- changing toners or clearing a printer paper jam

- data input & data analysis

- front to back end data connections

- writing code to convert web pages into pdf downloads

- cutting, editing or publishing training video’s

- preparing flowcharts to support business process remodelling


The fun bit is that you will be part of testing that everything we do must pass these 2 tests:

·           “the I don’t know anything about property test” so the fact that day 1 you’ll not know much makes you perfect for the role…

·           Why should the reader care, does the letter hook them.


We all break for lunch at 1pm till 2pm so a chance to catch up with friends/colleagues – there’s normally a joke or two going down in the lunch room.

Afternoons are often busy with newspaper, print or team email deadlines.

At the end of the day we need to check in with each other, see where we are and plan for the start of the next day.


Required skills:


Some design experience, good communication, numeracy, literacy, IT skills (HTML and SEO knowledge a distinct advantage), GCSE’s grade A-C in English and Maths, Good time management and organisational skills.  Good customer service skills, ability to think independently.
