Know the facts: The optimum working temperature is 19C. Energy costs rise by 8% for every 1C temperature increase. On average there are 45 days the temperature is over 23-25C and 213 days the temperature is below 18C, so that makes 107 days we don´t need heating & air con at all

Don´t heat/cool the building when not necessary

Know the facts: Sunlight is FREE we have reduced artificial light; this also helps avoid sick building syndrome. We have motion sensors in our toilets and coming soon to our hallways.

Our energy supplier generates its energy for renewable source. That´s right; we switched to only using wind, water and solar power in accordance with the Renewable Energy Certification System (RECS)

We are looking into:
Installing photocell sensors so lights only come on below set brightness levels
Installing timers to ensure lighting is switched off at the end of each day

Know the facts: Lighting an average office wastes enough energy to make 1,000 cups of teas. Our Cat 5 lighting is energy efficient and we use energy saving light bulbs where we can. They last 12 times longer & consume 1/5th less energy & save 90% in running costs.

Our policy is to turn off PC´s & equipment at night and we have Local Cooling power management tool which optimises PC energy settings and calculates savings in Greenhouse Gas emissions.

Know the facts: A monitor on overnight could print 800 pages or microwave 6 dinners. The C02 emission from just 15 computers is equivalent to the gas consumption of 1 car. An average office waste £6,000 a year by leaving equipment on standby. Switching off your monitor at lunch time can reduce 1/3 of the C02 produced by the PC.

Our policy is to turn off photocopiers at night It is estimated this saving equates to making 35 cups of tea or copying 1,500 pages. We have installed voltage meters and timer switches on key equipment

Known the facts: Offices use about 1000 sheets (4 feet) of paper per person each year

Paper has two sides; our policy is to use BOTH
